President - Ewen Harrison

Ewen Harrison

I grew up in Oban on the West Coast of Scotland and went to medical school in Glasgow. I completed Basic Surgical Training there before heading east to study for a PhD in Edinburgh. I am now on the Southeast Scotland Higher Surgical Training Programme currently working in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

I did research in the Transplant Unit in Edinburgh and wish to continue both the research and the transplanting.

I am greatly honoured to be ASiT President at a time when so many important changes occurring in surgical training. We need plenty of discourse to help predict the implications of these changes. ASiT will be very vocal on your behalf, but it is important we know what you think. I would encourage you to get involved in all the ASiT discussion fora so your voice can be heard.

The ASiT Website has improved greatly over the last two years thanks to the hard work of Chris Macklin and Phil Shackleton. With the formation of a new website committee at the last AGM, the next year should see the content and functionality of the site increase dramatically.

Anyone who wishes to get invovled in the website or has educational or training content of interest to ASiT members, please get in contact
