Director of Education: Steve Hornby

I am General Surgical Registrar in the South West of England.  Currently I have taken 2 years out at the mid point of my higher surgical training to complete an MD in the field of Oesophago-gastric Malignancy.

I have previously sat on council as the representative for Trent and then subsequently represented the ASIT Council on the ISCP Steering Committee and Medical Student Liaison Committee.

My clinical interests include; Oncological and Benign Upper GI Surgery, Emergency and Trauma Surgery, Complex Abdominal Wall Repair and Collaborative Research Networks.

Surgical training faces wave after wave of challenges in the modern health service.  It is clear that to maintain excellence we will have to find innovative methods for the delivery of training.

In my time as Director of Education I hope to continue the excellent courses that we have developed and expand on opportunities available to our membership.
