Treasurer: Robert Davies
I qualified from The University of Birmingham Medical School in 1999, since which I have continued my surgical training within the West Midlands. I attained my general surgical NTN in 2004 and undertook one year as a SpR before embarking on a two years period of research. I have since returned to clinical practice and currently work as a year five SpR in general surgery with a sub-speciality interest in vascular/endovascular surgery within the West Midlands Deanery.
I joined ASiT during my basic surgical training and quickly recognised the enormous role it played in ensuring the views of trainees were not just heard, but respected at the ‘top table’ of surgical politics. Thus it is no surprise that ASiTs’ membership has continued to grow exponentially over recent years to an extent where we now boast a membership in excess of 2200 people. However, with this expansion comes considerable responsibility not only, and foremost, to the current membership, but also to future generations of trainee surgeons. My key aim is to ensure the prudent management of ASITs economic security thereby providing a stable financial foot upon which to support the associations’ ongoing development.
