Regional Meeting
Northern Ireland - Regional Meetings May 2006
The NIASiT Meeting held on Thursday 25th May 2006 on the topic of "Training in the Future - Selection, Vision, and Reality" was extremely well attended by trainees and trainers alike.
This meeting featured a special guest, Professor Gordon Williams, the Chairman of the Joint Committee of Higher Surgical Training. With all of the changes to trianing taking place, the JCHST is the co-ordinating body, comprising the 4 surgical colleges and ALL Surgical SACs. Discussions and decisions relating to training are taken at this committe, and as such Professor Williams was well placed to give the most accurate, and official advice on training issues that will affect us all. The panel discussion allowed local trainees and trainers to directly question those responsible for running training programmes, as well as finding out what ASiT do to represent your views.
As usual, the informal meal after the meeting allowed time for the panel and trainees to interact and discuss issues not necessarily related to training!!
The meeting was kindly sponsored and supported by AstraZeneca.
