Regional Representatives
South Yorkshire and Humberside
ASIT has been without a rep for this region for some time. That changed when I went on the ASIT FRCS part 3 course in Les Arcs. I was talked into being a rep and I attended my first council meeting at the start of the annual meeting weekend. I was impressed by the commitment of other council members to raising awareness of current issues in surgical training through promoting ASIT in their regions. I was also impressed by the representation of all surgical specialties and grades of trainee through ASIT.
I am now attempting to challenge the apathy in my region and harness the fears especially of the younger trainees so that their voices can be heard. I am hoping to find an SHO who is willing to be a regional rep.
If anyone in the region is keen to get more involved in ASIT, we can start a local egroup and arrange some local events. I am unelected and I am happy to stand aside for a democratically elected rep.
