Surgical Oncology
The Association for Cancer Surgery would like to develop the profile of cancer surgeons in training and provide assistance during their training by establishing a Trainees Group (SOTA) representing all branches of cancer surgery in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The Association will:
- Offer free membership, including an electronic subscription to the European Journal of Surgical Oncology to trainees in the UK and Ireland, who are a member of a specialty or subspecialty association
- Establish a Trainees Committee, representing all Trainee groups with an interest in cancer surgery in the UK
- Invite an elected representative of SOTA to attend the BASO ~ ACS National Committee
- Provide trainees with an outlet to publish and present their research at a National Scientific Meeting, the abstracts for which are published in the European Journal of Surgical Oncology
- Develop an online website for trainees
- Help improve the training of cancer surgeons and the management principles for all trainees
- Provide awards and bursaries for cancer surgeons in training
- Arrange an annual trainees meeting, with a generic cancer surgery education programme
