This will be contested by scientific abstracts submitted with the top 5 selected for oral presentation. This is a ‘feather in the cap’ for ASiT to further progress scientific and evidence based links, and will attract an even greater number of submissions for scientific presentations than last year, when only one of the 120 abstracts was a scientific poster. This is already being advertised on the SARS website to the scientific community and profile is already being raised through advertisement in SARS newsletters.
This would consist of presentation of the top 5 abstracts based on clinical studies, audits, educational, or other work relating to surgical training. The theme would be very much orientated to surgical training. Last year we attracted 120 abstract submissions in this area and accepted 80 as either oral or poster presentations.
We are keen to involve trainees interested in surgery at all levels and we value the participation of those still at medical school. The top four medical student abstracts will be selected for presentation in this session and the judges will award the ASiT Medical Student Prize to the best on the day.
Posters will be judged by the assessors during the conference. Last year some 70 posters were selected and displayed and we anticipate this increasing year upon year. The best poster will be awarded the ASiT Poster Prize.
Final judging for the ASiT Poster Prize will take place during the Sunday Lunch Break - Please ensure that your poster remains on display during that time if you wish to compete for this prize.
