MSc in Surgical Science and Practice - University of Oxford
Applications for 2012 entry are being accepted
The University of Oxford invites applications for registration on its MSc in Surgical Science and Practice.
Developed jointly by the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences and the Department for Continuing Education, this internationally recognised part-time taught course deals with vital areas of postgraduate surgical training to prepare surgical trainees for life as independent specialists. It attracts the future leaders of the profession, providing broad-based training which allows you to develop your career in a number of different directions.
The course is designed to be completed in two to three years by full-time surgical trainees. Six modules cover:
- Becoming a Medical Educator
- Human Factors, Teamwork and Communication
- Introduction to Surgical Management and Leadership
- The Practice of Evidence-Based Health Care in Surgery
- Quality Improvement Science and Systems Analysis
- Surgical Technology and Robotics
The last of these gives an exceptional opportunity for hands-on experience with leading edge surgical technology including the Da Vinci robot.
Each module from the MSc in Surgical Science and Practice includes access to the University of Oxford’s online resources, as well as one week of intensive teaching in Oxford. In addition, participants produce a dissertation which may be based on a work-related project.
Each of the above modules may also be studied individually as a short course. Modular scholarships are now available for students taking the MSc in Surgical Science and Practice.
