Survey - MS Coloproctology Course - University of East Anglia

Time is one of the biggest obstacles you face in developing your skills and competencies in training for a successful career in coloproctology. To compliment current training systems and prepare you for year 1 consultant coloproctologist post, the University of East Anglia (UEA) is planning to offer a new Masters degree in Coloproctology (MS) supported by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.  This initiative is based on the successful e-learning mastership programme in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.

This flexible e-learning course has clearly defined learning outcomes pitched a level higher than the FRCS and is standard set at specialist colorectal surgeon level. Candidates will be supported by a national faculty of e-tutors, clinical tutors and link surgeons. Assessment of theory, technical and practical operative skills will be by a combination of MCQ/EMQ, script concordance test of clinical reasoning, OSCE, PBA’s and end of year assessment at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In addition, the course promotes training in management and service delivery, clinical leadership, research and audit, areas not covered in standard SpR training programmes.

We are keen to hear your views about this new degree, even if you do not intend to apply for it. We would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes completing this survey, providing information that will help faculty in curriculum development and course delivery.
