Trainee Research Collaboratives

Surgical trainee-led research collaboratives offer the opportunity to run large-scale multi-centre audits and clinical trails by bringing together interested trainees into one collaborative research group.

A number of such groups now exist across the UK and their contact details can be found below.

Opportunities are available to all levels of surgical trainee, from those wanting to take their first steps in research and assist in data collection, through to those with an idea for a project they want to discuss and develop into something that can be rolled out across the collaborative group’s region and beyond.

• Discuss and get advice with protocol design, statistics, ethics, funding and running your study.
• Find volunteers across your region to help with multi-centre data collection.
• Continue projects even when you have rotated to another hospital.
• Boost your CV with your name as a co-author of a major paper in a high impact journal.
