General Surgery
General Surgery has lost its importance as an entity in its own right with most major operations being incorporated in to one of the defined specialitities within general surgery.
There are however many hospitals that still have generalists and as such ASIT still supports those with an interest in General Surgery as a 'speciality'. Whilst a lot of information pertinent to the general surgeon will be found in the particular speciality section the general surgery section is to promote discussion, education and information concerning topics that are not encompassed in the speciality section.
