I am an academic foundation trainee in the Welsh Deanery with an interest in general surgery. I was delighted to be elected to the executive council from my post as Foundation Doctor representative in 2015.
ASiT has a broad reach and influence, representing surgical trainees’ interests at all careers stages and in all aspects of their professional lives. Through its surveys, training courses and conferences, ASiT collects consensus viewpoints from its membership, representing their interests at the highest levels of policymaking and government.
As publicity officer I hope to utilise social media and electronic communications to reinforce ASiT’s reach and engagement with surgical education and training. I hope to use links with research collaboratives to engage new avenues for sharing insight and awareness of the key issues pressuring surgical training. Working with our regional and specialty representatives across council, I intend to bring new individualised promotions for ASiT members throughout the UK & ROI, working towards our 40th year anniversary celebration at the ASiT conference in 2016.
We are always looking for innovative new ways to reach out to surgical trainees within the ASiT network. Get involved with the discussion on Twitter (@ASiTofficial) and Facebook (/ASiT.org)!@DrJamesGlasbey | firstname.lastname@example.org
