Course Format:

This course will provide foundation knowledge of acute imaging for surgical on-call doctors. The appropriate imaging choices along with their interpretation and the brief management of encountered pathologies will be discussed. The primary aim of the course is to provide junior surgical trainees with a practical guide for surgical on calls.

Course Programme (subject to change) will include:

• Interpretation of plain x-rays (chest, abdominal and bony)
• Diagnosis and management of common findings on chest x-ray
• Diagnosis and management of common findings on abdominal x-ray
• Principles of diagnosis and management of most common skeletal fractures
• Interpretation of abdominal CT
• Diagnosis and immediate management of abdominal CT findings
• Paediatric imaging
