ASiT Foundation Skills in Surgery Course (26/06/2018) - Cambridge - FULLY BOOKED

This is a free one day intense course on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018 that will prepare foundation trainee level doctors with many of the fundamental techniques required for early surgical training. Topics include basic concepts in surgery, writing an operation note and practising numerous suturing techniques (hand tying, interrupted/continuous/mattress suturing).

We will teach core competencies (theoretical and practical) essential for progress into your training in surgery at foundation level. It is aimed at FY1/FY2 doctors considering application to core surgical training and will contribute to knowledge base as well as your surgical portfolio.


09.00-09.30 - Registration
09.30-10.00 - Medical Records and Operative Notes
10.00-11.00 - Sutures, Drains and Instruments

11.00-11.30 - Break

11.30-13.00 - PRACTICAL 1
(suturing both interrupted and continuous, knot tying)

13.00-14.00 – Lunch

14.00-15.50 - PRACTICAL 2
(subcuticular sutures, mattress sutures, further skills: excision of lesions, Aberdeen knots)

16.00 - Close and Feedback
