ASIT SILVER SCALPEL AND SILVER SUTURE AWARDS
2021 NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN
RECOGNISING EXCELLENCE IN SURGICAL TRAINING SINCE 2000
NOMINATE A conSultant or trainee trainer TODAY!

Over the past decade the prestigious Silver Scalpel Award has played a vital part in recognising trainers that go the extra mile for their trainees, while at the same time promoting the highest standards of surgical training.

With the effects of COVID-19 on the NHS and with training increasingly squeezed by demands on the service, it is now more important than ever that we recognise and reward good trainers. Good training goes hand in hand with providing excellent patient care, and the Silver Scalpel and Silver Suture winners also deliver an exemplary service to their patients by creating a positive clinical environment and learning culture for trainees.

We want to hear from you, the trainees, about any consultant or trainee trainer that you feel deserves this prestigious award.

Guidelines for Nominations:
Please provide a maximum of two A4 pages on why you think your consultant or trainee colleague is an exceptional surgical trainer and deserves this award. In particular, please describe your trainer under the following headings in your nomination:

  • Leadership
  • Resourcefulness
  • Training and Development
  • Professionalism
  • Communication

Supportive evidence from other trainees, consultants, nursing and allied health practitioners can be provided within the letter. Please note that self-nominations and nominations for current members of ASiT Council or Executive Committee will not be accepted.
