ASiT/AoMS Medical Student Essay Prize

We are now accepting entries for this year's ASiT/Annals of Medicine & Surgery Medical Student Essay Prize. Essays of no more than 1500 words are invited exploring the following title:
 

"ADDRESSING THE RECRUITMENT SHORTFALL IN SURGERY- HOW DO WE INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION?"
 

The winners will be announced at our annual "Preparing for a career in Surgery event" on the 14th October 2017.

The fantastic prizes will be:

  • 1st Prize: PubMed Publication in 'Annals of Medicine and Surgery' + £150 cash prize!
     
  • 2nd Prize: £50 cash prize + free place on the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng) 'Surgical Skills course for Students' + Free 1 year affiliate membership with RCSEng
     
  • 3rd Prize: Free affiliate membership with RCSEng

Essays must be emailed to applications@asit.org with 'MEDICAL STUDENT ESSAY PRIZE 2017' as the subject heading no later than:

2359 hours, Sunday 1st October 2017

Entrants must be ASiT members and a medical student in a UK or ROI medical school at the time of application.

Essays should be written in Arial size 12-font, double spaced and referenced in the Vancouver style. Essays should not exceed 1500 words (excluding cover page and reference list).

Applicants should include a cover page detailing their full name, ASiT membership number, year of Medical School, training region, email address and postal address.
