ASiT is delighted to announce that applications are now open for several council positions

REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE POSTS

Overview

Regional representatives are responsible for representing and reporting issues in relation to surgical training for trainees in all ten surgical specialities within their region. They will represent all ASiT members within that region including medical students, foundation doctors and core and higher surgical trainees.

Elgibility

  • Current ASiT member
  • CT1/ST1 - ST8 working within the respective deanery at the start of role term in August (October for those starting CST in London)
  • A full appreciation and commitment to upholding the role and responsibilities​

IST REPRESENTATIVE

Overview

The Improving Surgical Training (IST) pilot was introduced in 2018 in an attempt to provide trainees with a better balance between service provision and training. ASiT has advocated for IST trainees since its inception and is recruiting into this role to continue to ensure that the end product of surgical training is not diluted. The IST Representative will act as a point of contact between ASiT and the Royal Colleges and Statutory Educational Bodies to ensure the progress of this pilot and ensure it delivers improvement in surgical training.

Eligibility

  • Current ASiT member
  • An IST trainee at the start of role term in August (October for those starting IST in London)
  • A full appreciation and commitment to upholding the role and responsibilities

EQUALITY & DIVERSITY (E&D) OFFICER

Overview

ASiT is delighted to announce this new role on its national council. The role has been developed as part of ASiT's ongoing commitment to promote equality and diversity in surgical training which has been reflected in its council appointments and positions throughout the years. Specific responsibilities for this role include leading (with support) the ASiT E&D Working Group, development of a detailed E&D policy, coordinating projects to investigate and reduce workplace implicit bias and discrimination.

  • CT1/ST1 - ST8 at the start of role term in August
  • A full appreciation and commitment to upholding the role and responsibilities
