The theme of this two day meeting will be  "Improving our patients' outcomes after hernia surgery".

Our society has continued to grow and we have a number of trainees registered in the BHS. Indeed this year (2019) we gave out four trainee research grants (each £2000) and four 'BHS Travel' grants (each £500) to attend the recent EHS meeting in Hamburg
to those who applied via our website (www.britishherniasociety.org).

The British Hernia Society was created in 2003 by a group of surgeons with an interest in hernia surgery.  At that time our main objective was to re-establish British hernia surgery in the forefront of this specialty through a programme of innovative meetings and workshops in collaboration with industry.

With the exponential increase and interest in hernia surgery the Board of the British Hernia Society feel it is vital that we continue to develop, educate and inform to ensure that the highest standards of hernia surgery are practiced.

This Society is for you, the busy practising surgeon and the trainee. The British Hernia Society will continue to develop in the way that you want it to – and we welcome ideas, comments and suggestions.

We look forward to seeing you at the ICC Wales!
