With the growing popularity of postgraduate degrees in medical education, ASiT is excited to announce its latest collaboration with eoSurgical who will fund a £1000 available to ASiT members undertaking an MSc in Medical Education (including distance learning and simulation-themed courses).

The bursary may only be used towards funding tuition fees and proof of payment of tuition fees for the 2021-2022 academic year will be required for reimbursement. The bursary amount cannot be claimed against retrospective fees paid for previous academic years.

Eligibility

Bursary applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria (evidence required at the time of application):

  • ASiT member at the time of application
  • Accepted into or currently enrolled in a Medical Education MSc programme (including distance learning and programmes focussing on simulation-themed research)
  • Must not be in the final year of the programme
  • Must not be a current member of the ASiT Council or Executive Committee

Outcome

Applications will be marked against set criteria based solely on merit, vision and academic achievement/potential. The successful applicant will be notified shortly after the marking is done and reimbursed once proof of payment of tuition fees is provided to the ASiT Bursary Liaison (instructions on how to claim will be sent with the outcome letter).

  • An up to date CV summary (maximum 2 pages) focussing on your commitment to surgery (relative to career grade) and previous experience in medical education (tutoring, attending teaching courses, formal training in medical education (e.g. PGCert))
  • A personal statement focussing on your action plan for the MSc (specific timelines, targets, course theme, time-management and balancing work/university-related commitments)
