Johno Hirniak

Regional Representative - Eastern

Johno is a CT1 in Plastic surgery and Trauma & Orthopaedics based in James Paget and Norfolk
& Norwich University hospitals. He graduated from St George’s, University of London in 2021
with an MBBS and intercalated BSc in Global Health, and subsequently completed foundation
training in Central London.
He is passionate about making positive change and ensuring representation, reflected in
previous roles within the Royal Society of Medicine, Royal College of Surgeons, Faculty of
Medical Leadership and Management and ASiT. As a previous Medical Student Representative,
he expanded the ambassador programme to encompass all UK and ROI medical schools,
leading a team to run 100+ ASiT-affiliated events and represent trainee views nationally making
institutional changes. In his fourth year with ASiT, he will continue to advocate for trainee
needs, quality improvement, and high quality surgical training. Beyond his professional
pursuits, Johno enjoys exploring mountains, the sea, and experimenting with new recipes and
food spots.
