Amanda O'Halloran

Ms. Amanda O’Halloran is currently a Specialist Registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at Cork University Hospital as part of her Higher Specialist Training (ST4). She became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and earned her Master’s of Surgery (MCh) from the University of Galway in 2022. She holds the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Complementing her medical degrees, Amanda has a General Nursing Bachelor of Science from University College Cork, and has furthered her education with a Certificate in Management for Healthcare Professionals from Waterford Institute of Technology, and an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Education from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Amanda’s dedication to her speciality is evident from her numerous publications and presentations. She has co-authored articles on diverse topics such as orthopaedic injury patterns and trends in spinal cancers. Her research has been published in reputable journals, including the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Spine, and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. She has also been recognised with several awards and scholarships, such as the Best Paper Award at the Irish Spine Society Meeting and the RCSI International Citizenship Award.In addition to her clinical and academic pursuits, Amanda has demonstrated a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. She currently participates in the British Orthopaedic Medical Students Association National Mentorship Scheme, is the treasurer for the Association of Women in Surgery (AWS) Ireland, and is an adjunct Clinical Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
