Israa Hussein

Regional Representative - South East of Scotland

I completed my medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Currently, I am an Academic FY2 in the North of Scotland and will soon begin Core Surgical Training (CT1) in the South East of Scotland. My training will follow the Remote and Rural Route, with 6 month in a remote setting. I have a keen interest in Academic Surgery, with a passion for research, learning, and education. Before medical school, I earned a bachelor's degree in Pharmacology and a master's degree in physiology and Biophysics. My passion for surgery was sparked by a research project during my bachelor's degree, leading to a significant career change. Throughout my education, I have worked on various research projects, and I have been actively involved in teaching. I have obtained a PGcert in Clinical education from the University of aberdeen. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and exploring, and I love documenting my adventures through photography. I am eager to contribute positively to the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASIT) and represent trainees in the South East of Scotland to the best of my ability.
